The summer movie blockbuster season is right around the corner, which means a whole host of big name, big budget flicks are coming to a theater near you. One of the most hyped of these movies is the third installment of the license-to-print-money Transformers series. Called Dark Side of the Moon, the movie brings back all our favorite heros, including the Camaro-transforming robot Bumblebee.
GM, which has a monopoly on this particular set of movie tie-ins, has just released a new commercial for the Camaro including some never-before-seen footage of the latest Transformers movie.
In terms of television advertisements, marketing for the Camaro has been quite light, with just a handful of commercials pumping up the reborn muscle car. Perhaps GM didn’t feel the need to advertise it too much, as sales have been strong despite the down economy, and the Camaro is outselling both of its main competitors, the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger.
But a little media blitz certainly isn’t going to hurt sales, and with the Camaro taking a starring role in the next Transformers film, now is as good a time as ever to show off some of those Michael Bay special effects. The commercial/movie trailer ends with an announcer saying that, while you might not need to outrun the Decepticons, it’s nice to know that the Camaro can do just that. Can it transform into a four-story tall robot with laser guns for arms too? Probably not. But maybe one day…
