The LQ9 is an engine usually found in a Cadillac Escalade or Chevrolet Silverado SS, amongst other GM truck applications, so, what’s it doing in an F-body Camaro? Making loads of power, of course!

Thanks to YouTube user talontsi97, we get to see nearly two minutes of K.P. Tuning‘s Camaro throwing down some intense dyno runs. The first thing we notice when the car is on the dyno, is the guy pouring what’s described as “Track Bite” on the rollers – a liquid traction compound usually used for prepping dragstrips. That’s interesting, considering it takes quite a bit of horsepower for the tires to spin on the roller when the car is strapped down tight.

As far as modifications go, the Camaro’s LQ9 heart has a lot of them – a built AES 390 cubic inch bottom end, Texas Speed and Performance PRC 225cc heads, Edelbrock intake manifold, Street Works Automotive turbo kit, Turbo Works S480 turbo with cast turbine and compressor wheels, electric water pump, and a Powerglide transmission to back it up. C16 race fuel or pump gas is sent to the rails via dual Walbro 400 fuel pumps, and all that forced air is cooled down by an eBay-sourced intercooler setup.

On pump gas, this car makes a stout 793 horsepower and 711 pound-feet of torque, but on C16 race gas, the car makes a more-than-adequate 915 horses and 819 pound-feet. Those are pretty insane numbers for a setup like this and it seems really consistent, run after run.

We’d love to see this car being tested at the strip to see how good it hooks and what kind of times it puts down in the quarter-mile. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
