It seems that early Italian sports cars are the new big thing to swap LS engines into nowadays. Last week, we did a story on an awesome 1988 Lamborghini Jalpa, which can be seen here, and this week we bring you this sweet 1976 Ferrari 308 GT4.

User name Ferrari488gt4 on LS1Tech is the owner, and he has some big plans for this beast. Ferrari originally offered this car with a 3-liter V8 that produced 230 horsepower, so the first step to ramping things up would obviously be to ditch the weathered powerplant for something that is easier to obtain parts for and easier to make power with – a twin-turbo LSX shaped up to be the perfect candidate.

In its current state, the engine is outfitted with LS6 injectors, an LS6 manifold, twin 57mm turbos, and is mated to a Subaru transaxle, but is otherwise stock for now. Oh, and we didn’t mention that Ferrari488gt4 is a college student in the process of getting his bachelor’s degree for automotive restoration – this project should earn him an A+ even though it’s more of a restomod. He also built some trick 180 degree headers for the car, which look pretty awesome and should sound as good as they look.

One touch about the car that we really like is where the twin turbos are mounted. Ferrari488gt4 has the exhaust from the hot side of the turbo routed through the two inner taillights, which looks great and will probably lead to Ferrari purists having aneurysms.
