The racing and show seasons are in full swing, and it’s time for the third annual LS Fest Texas event presented by Holley Performance Brands. On May 17th and 18th Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) will once again host the Texas-sized all-LS (and Gen-V LT) extravaganza.
Although this event is only in its third year, LS Fest Texas has already grown to pack the TMS infield with show cars, race cars, and spectators. This year’s event will be no different. The no-prep drag racing competition returns as racers will have to figure out the tricky surface on pit road to get their cars and trucks to make fast passes. Additionally, there will be autocross running on two different courses along with drifting, a car show, and a vendor midway where you can see the latest and greatest parts and components the aftermarket has to offer LS/LT enthusiasts. Once the sun goes down the party will get louder and the air will be filled with tire smoke as the burnout pit comes to life for an epic competition.
Also returning to get the weekend started is the LS Fest Texas kick-off party hosted by Wynrock Speed on Thursday, May 16th. Last year’s kick-off party was a great time for participants to gather and socialize. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and meeting all of the other LS/LT enthusiasts prior to the official start of the event on Friday.
New for LS Fest Texas is the Truck Shootout. Texans are known for their love of trucks and Holley has added a competition to showcase high-performance haulers and show trucks. The LS Fest Texas Truck Shootout requires no additional registration and all participants in any of the Truck and SUV categories will be in the running. The Truck Shootout will consist of event-specific competitions in the drag race, car/truck show, autocross, and the dyno challenge.
In the car/truck show things will be awarded slightly differently from years past. Instead of choosing one category winner, the judges will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the Truck & SUV class to determine the Truck Shootout winners. In addition, a new Truck & SUV category has been added to the Dyno Challenge. The truck or SUV that puts down the most horsepower during the weekend in the Naturally Aspirated and Power Adder classes will be the winner of the Truck Shootout.
The Drag Race competition will see the 1st and 2nd place winners from both Friday and Saturday’s Truck & SUV class match up on Saturday night after eliminations to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall for the Truck Shootout. The Autocross competition will have a similar format to the Drag Race event. The three quickest trucks and SUVs from Saturday’s autocross session will face off at the end of the day for a final round and the quickest passes win.
LS Fest Texas 2024 promises to be an exciting two-day event with something for every LS/LT enthusiast. Round up all your friends and head to TMS on May 17th and 18th to join in the fun and excitement. We’ll see you there!
