Let’s face it, as the years pass it’s becoming more difficult to find a two-door muscle car. However, all is not lost in the land of muscle. If you haven’t noticed, Craiglist.com is fast becoming the Mecca to find rare, unique and super-cool new and second-hand vehicles for sale. Best part, no bidding and a straight-forward approach to purchasing cars at a bargain.

Case in point, we stumbled upon this ultra-clean, low-mileage ’96 Impala SS sedan. Yeah, this is no 2-door muscle car. This all-business body sports four doors with an understated look.

From the looks of the well-shot images, we think the seller is accurate when he states, “…you would be hard pressed to find another one out there in this condition with these miles.” So, what are you getting for all those greenbacks?

We’re all aware of how hard black paint is to take care of and this Impala is certainly sporting some skin that’s been well maintained. Of course, living in a garage also keeps the dings, dents and scratches off the radar. For the interior, the Impala welcomes you with near-perfect factory buckets with custom floor mats and even upgraded LED lighting for interior illumination.

For power, the Impala makes perfect use of the factory-backed LT1 5.7L small-block. The seller claims it’s all good for 17/27mpg city/highway, although we’re guessing the near-thirty mile per gallon average for the highway might be more of a dream.

The engine sings through a complete, aftermarket Spintech exhuast system and was tuned by a Hypertech Power programmer for extra punch. Looks don’t lie and in this case, this Impala makes good use of them. The seller has already added 22-inch Asanti Luxury wheels wrapped in Lexani rubber. More upgrades include a custom grill, HID headlights, Viper alarm with remote start, kill switch, tinted windows and even extended rear control arms to push the wheels out for the correct stance.

Judging from our experience the $22,500 asking price is a little steep considering our Kelly Blue Book search. It netted us a value anywhere between $13,000-11,000 depending on condition. Even at $15,ooo, this example is still well beyond the range of most people’s budgets. However, it’s hard to go wrong with a simple, comfortable and quick sled like this. It demands respect.
