For some, cars are all about finding the balance of luxury and performance. Restomod Air understands this balance, and is making it far simpler to achieve with its new air-conditioning products. We stopped by the Restomod Air booth at the 2015 SEMA Show and spoke with Mike Rejkowski about two new releases.

The first thing Rejkowski told us about was the new Apple iOS app ‘Atmosphere,’ which allows the user to control their Restomod A/C units via Bluetooth technology. The app can be used on any iOS device, from iPods to iPads, and can control fan speed, temperature, and so on. The app also features a diagnostic mode and a customizable interface that allows the user to change the color to match the interior, for example.

Rejkowski  also shared with us Restomod’s new, fully-electronic, 12-volt A/C compressor. It uses a quiet, powerful electric motor versus an accessory drive component that pulls power from the engine. That there is no bracketry required, and the unit sits neatly in the engine bay. He also highlighted the fact that, since the compressor is not dependent on the engine, it allows the car’s A/C to run while the engine is off.

The company’s show car, which modeled both the electric compressor and the Atmosphere app. The vehicle, a ’62 Lincoln Continental, was given to the company by a friend of Rejkowski who builds cars for movies. Once in their hands, Restomod Air chopped and blocked it, gave it a full suspension upgrade with a four-link in the rear, and tucked a blown 5.0-liter Roush engine under the hood. According to him, the car is rated at 750 horses at the crank.

“The car worked out really well because, whenever you put a supercharger on a 5.0-liter, you have to choose between either having power steering or air conditioning. We’re able to demonstrate the utility of our electric compressor because we didn’t have to choose — we got both,” Rejkowski said.
