While a Vega Hatchback may not be your idea of the optimal muscle car, they held their own on the road in the muscle car era- especially if they were Baldwin equipped. Such a Vega, boasting the performance upgrades to rule over any ordinary muscle car, is now up for bid on eBay. But act fast or this Vega will be gone as fast as it can roar down the road.
The ‘73 Vega GT Hatchback up for sale is believed to have possibly been a Baldwin Motion Vega originally. Although not equipped with a big-block, the Vega still sports Baldwin front and rear spoilers, rear fender flares, an L88 hood, rollbar and welded in subframe.
Powering the Vega is a correct date-coded LS7 454cui engine matted to a M-22 Muncie transmission with Hurst shifter and completely new clutch components. Some of the performance components that were added in the build of this Vega include a Comp Cams roller camshaft, aluminum high-flow water pump, Hooker Super Comp headers and high-flow oil pump. The Vega sports a 12-bolt Posi traction rear end with 4.56 gears, as well as a fully built performance suspension and rare ‘74 Cragar Mach 8 wheels. With over $70,000 into the car, no expense was spared in building this Vega. Although removed from the car, the original front coil springs, front brakes, GT steering wheel, heater box and wiper motor all come with the eBay lot along with two spare Cragar Mach 8 wheels.
If you’re interested in bidding on the Vega, you’ve got to act fast because the lot expires the night of September 13th. While there is no “Buy It Now” option, the reserve is set above $20,000. If you’d like to see a video of the Vega before you make a bid, you can contact the seller.
