With 16 cars sold out of a limited number of 29, Hennessey Performance is already planning their next big step into the hypercar world with the Venom F5 – named after the strongest tornadoes on the Fujita scale.
We have no doubt that this car will be nothing less than epic, because their first Venom car is, well, epic. The original Venom hit 270.49 MPH and John Hennessey has a feeling that there are better things to come with the new F5. The predicted horsepower numbers and top speed will be achieved by adding larger turbos, reducing the coefficient of drag from .44 to below .40 while retaining downforce to stay planted to the pavement, and an upgraded fuel system.
One couple of interesting tidbits we heard about the Venom F5 via Jalopnik is that it will have a GPS-based traction control system that will know the track in which you are headed to before you even set tire on racing surface – how cool and potentially creepy is that? The F5 is also said to be getting a single-clutch paddle-shift gearbox as well.
Jalopnik actually talked to John Hennessey about the F5 and he had some pretty interesting, yet brief points to make about the car. “The F5 will be faster than the GT. Probably not 318 MPH and probably less than 300 MPH. But I think that something in the 290+ MPH range will be possible with our new car.”
“I am not ready to release power numbers yet,” he added. “But we have already begun testing the powertrain and power could exceed 1,400 horsepower.”
With all of that said, we can’t wait to see what numbers this F5 throws down, let alone video of it! There are currently 13 “standard” Venom GTs for purchase at $1.2M each – if you have the coin, go order one of these LS7-powered works of art. Or wait until the F5 is up for sale – up to you.
