Since the GM bankruptcy, we really aren’t sure what to think of what’s rolling out of Dearborn. It would appear that GM, Chrysler, and even Ford (though they did not go bankrupt) are cranking out some of the best vehicles they’ve ever made. Spy shots of the new ’13 Malibu have been leaked online already and we’ll have to admit that it’s a truly handsome car.
The bow-tie themed grille that entered into GM styling about 10 years ago is finally starting to blend in with the car as opposed to simply looking like every Chevy is wearing a Silverado grille. The belt line of the car is high and rises from noise to tail giving it a nice rakes appearance. The resemblance to it’s sister Buick models is evident.
Today there are several Malibu’s running around Michigan in full camouflage undergoing full testing, and that is the basis of this video, which we found originally over on Autoblog.
Veteran spy photographer Jim Dunne has spent 28 years of making a career of capturing spy photos of unreleased models, and he gives a good overview of what it’s like to play his game.
All car makers take great care in protecting styling cues from unrelesaed models, but luckily for you (and us) people like Jim Dunne are out there to give us the inside spy gossip that we grave!
