We all know that the folks at Performance Distributors make a mean HEI distributor, and their “DUI” setup has been known to offer horsepower improvements over stock units by up to 18 horsepower alone. The obvious big feature of a DUI distributor is that no external coil or spark boxes are needed as the coil sits in the cap itself. After hooking up a single 12 volt hot wire to the DUI it will send 50,000 volts of pure spark energy to the plugs for a cleaner, crisper, more powerful running engine! In addition, the timing curve of each DUI is custom tuned for your specific engine specifications.

A DUI does not come with a set of springs to tune the timing curve mechanically, but instead a special weight and spring assembly is hand fitted and dialed-in using a distributor machine by Performance Distributors.  This provides a smooth advance with instant throttle response and maximum power throughout the rpm range with no pre-detonation. DUI’s run a vacuum advance for improved fuel economy and cleaner spark plugs, and with theiir 50,000 volt coil and Dyna-Module the spark plug gaps to be opened up to a massive .055″!
