Lots of high-end RPM, gear changes and spinning tires. No matter what the vehicle, chances are if it’s featuring those elements, there’s no doubt in our minds that you’re probably already hooked. Add one potent GM powerplant to the mix of ingredients like a 434-inch small-block topped with an EZ-EFI fuel-injection kit and this alien-like Martian roaming mobile sounds and looks like the baddest vehicle ever built to survive the Apocalypse.
Usually, we leave the dirt-focused content to internet rats. However, after becoming familiar with Jordan Tanner’s ability to climb just about anything with a stroked-out 434 small-block, we couldn’t help but want to share our find with you, the readers. Were we wrong? I hope not. We’ve got the highlights of Tanner’s latest, “Best of” YouTube video, which we’ve featured above.
Be warned, Tanner isn’t afraid to use the loud pedal when necessary and this video illustrates just that. If you aren’t familiar with Jordan Tanner’s hill-climbing buggy, you’re in for a treat. We’ve featured Tanner’s exploits before, too.
During one of Tanner’s back-breaking hill-climbs, a heavy-right throttle foot for power was met with suspension rebound and sidewall flex; launching the buggy nose first into a tree. Unaffected by the solid mass, Tanner came back for more and eventually dominated the course. If you’ve missed this climbing rig, make sure to check out Jordan Tanner’s past exploits as we’ve featured in the past.
Tanner’s ColeworX rig, “Screamin’ II” is exactly that. This highly-customized chassis has been extensively modified to better Tanner’s ability to wheel. Among other modifications, Tanner wasn’t going to leave his rig underpowered. Relying on a high-compression 434ci stroker small-block, this mill kicks out 600HP, split between the front and rear through a 4.3:1 Atlas transfer case. Just watch the video and you’ll hear exactly how this rig screams.
Not stopping there, as most wheelers are aware of, carburetors don’t usually like more than a flat playing field for operating smoothly or anything but sea level for the perfect Air/Fuel ratio. To combat this, Tanner topped off the small-block with an EZ-EFI kit to assure fuel delivery stays accurate. Tanner’s “Best of” compilation video gives us all the angles of what it takes to compete.
Tanner’s unstoppable, essentially wheeling his way over nearly anything in his way all the while staying wide-open; be it over boulders, loose top soil, children and of course the finish line. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for “Screamin II.” Will there be a third follow up? We hope so.
