7th Gen Camaro Trademark Filing Hints At Possible Return

Chevrolet may be quietly setting the stage for a 7th Gen Camaro, as a new trademark filing suggests the legendary muscle car might not be gone for good.

A Name That Refuses To Die

The sixth-generation Camaro ended production after the 2024 model year, closing the book on nearly a decade of modern muscle. With no immediate successor announced, enthusiasts were left to wonder if the Camaro’s story had finally reached its end. Yet GM’s latest move indicates the possibility of a revival.

On September 25, 2025, General Motors filed to secure the Camaro trademark with the Cambodia Department of Intellectual Property. The filing, registered under KH/119217/25, falls into the category of “motor vehicles and parts thereof.” This is significant because it confirms the application applies to actual vehicles rather than small merchandise like keychains or apparel. For Camaro fans, that sparks real hope for a 7th Gen Camaro to eventually emerge.

Why File In Cambodia?

The choice of Cambodia may appear unusual, but global automakers often file trademarks in multiple regions to protect a brand’s future use. In this case, the timing raises eyebrows. Filing now, just a year after Camaro production ended, suggests GM still has plans for the badge. Protecting the Camaro name in new markets could be a strategic step toward launching the 7th Gen Camaro as part of a wider global push.

Will The 7th Gen Camaro Be ICE Or EV?

The biggest question surrounding a potential 7th Gen Camaro is what form it would take. Industry rumors over the past few years speculated that the Camaro might abandon its ICE roots and reappear as a four-door EV sedan or even a performance crossover. That scenario once seemed likely, but GM’s current shift toward what insiders are calling an “ICE Renaissance” changes the equation.

Reports from GM Authority indicate that a proposal for a seventh-generation muscle car was drafted internally, but leadership initially shelved the idea due to weak business justification. However, sources suggest the project is still “in play.” With the trademark now active, momentum for a 7th Gen Camaro appears stronger than ever.

GM Leadership On The Camaro’s Future

GM President Mark Reuss recently offered insight into what the next Camaro should embody. He pointed to a formula that balances “beauty, a little bit of functionality, and fun.” That statement reinforces the belief that GM is carefully weighing how to evolve the Camaro for a new era without losing the soul that defined it.

A Future Still Unwritten

At this stage, no official announcements have been made, and the 7th Gen Camaro is still speculative. Yet trademarks are rarely filed without purpose, and GM’s decision to protect the Camaro name shows the model’s legacy remains too valuable to abandon. Whether the next Camaro emerges as a traditional coupe, a hybrid muscle car, or something entirely new, the trademark filing proves the bowtie brand is not ready to let one of its most iconic names disappear.
