When someone thinks of a project car, or a restoration, a 1970 P10 Step Van probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. And it’s pretty obvious why: it’s a tall, bulky, aerodynamically-challeneged brick. This begs the question, why would someone want to restore a ’70s van which was probably used for delivering bread in the first place?
The guys at Roadster Shop out of Mundelein, Illinois knew this was a unique project, being that they had never restored a P10 Step Van before. The van is actually owned by one of Roadster Shop’s customers. We’re extremely impressed with how the final product came out.
Like all great projects, you gotta start from the ground up to achieve perfection. Speaking of which, the custom fabrication on this P10's interior is extremely cool. And we're definitely fans of the brass knuckles shift knob.
From what we’ve gathered from the Roadster Shop’s Facebook page, this P10 (dubbed “Windy City Towers”) has become host to a number of modifications. A modern LSx swapped V8 engine has been housed in the new completely-custom fabricated chassis. The step van has also been slammed on airbag suspension components, and now uses OEM C5 Corvette disc brakes in the front.
