If you weren’t aware, the third generation of CTS is upon us. It seems like most folks seemed to forget that due to being so enamored by the second generation of Cadillac’s flagship. While the range-topping CTS-V hasn’t officially dropped yet, Cadillac has given us a little taste of something new with the V Sport. If you’re unfamiliar with the setup, the car is powered by a twin turbo V6 and the results are quite impressive.
Don’t fret V8 fans, the V trim level will be on the new platform in 2016. For now just sit back, relax, and enjoy some turbo spoolin’ goodness. Besides, this is a strong precursor to the top dog as all Vs will be sedans in the third generation. Sorry, wagon and coupe enthusiasts.
The original setup cranks out about 420 horsepower and is capable of even more with just a tune. So just how far has the sedan come? Well with as simple of a setup as it has, the sedan is able to rip off mid 12-second passes consistently with the best being a 12.41-second elapsed time. That’s quickly closing in on C6 territory and making C5 Corvette performance look like a thing of the past.
What else can we expect to see from the quite speedy luxury cruiser? According to the owner, there isn’t much else that he wants to do. As his daily driver he plans on leaving it about how it is and with those numbers we don’t really blame him. Besides, good luck getting your hands on any type of aftermarket for less than an arm or a leg… if it even exists at all.
