The Fast and the Furious movie franchise is among the favorites of many car guys, despite that fact that its beginnings stemmed from the import street racing scene. One of the most entertaining and comical aspects of the first movie (among many), was the flames you would see shooting out of the “10-second” import cars. 

Those multicolored fireballs were clearly the effects of movie magic, at the time we secretly wished that our cars could do that for real. So imagine our delight when we ran across this video on YouTube of a brand new Camaro ZL1 shooting flames out of the exhaust on the dyno. It’s epically awesome.

Ironically, the idea of a 10-second street car today is not that hard to imagine thanks to cars like this ZL1 Camaro built by 510 Race Engineering. Although we have no information in regards to the actual performance from this fifth-gen, everyone knows that a Camaro ZL1 is a mid 12-second car right out of the box. So figuring this car has a pulley, a tune, headers, exhaust, and a cold-air intake, it’s a no-brainer that this car should at least be solidly in the 11’s. With some drag radials and a good 60-foot it could possibly even dip down into the high 10’s.

Although some may deduct points from the cool factor for this example being an automatic-equipped model, we think the owner of this ZL1 should be proud of what his car can do. On, and off the dyno.
