Why do we build cars? To be fastest than the next guy, right? Yet with so many race tracks being shut down across the U.S., finding a safe and legal place to test your mettle is becoming increasingly difficult. Yet that does nothing to solve the issue of who has the fastest street car.
That is where events like the OPTIMA Faceoff come into play. Each year OPTIMA Batteries holds events from coast to coast, searching for the “ultimate” street car through a series of grueling competitions. This year’s event will be broadcast on national television, with the series premiere on Sunday, September 30th, at 1 PM Eastern on SPEED TV. Will your car be on board?
The OPTIMA Faceoff, presented by K&N Filters and Royal Purple, features cars across many different eras and brands, including Corvettes and even Mustangs. There doesn’t appear to be any sort of limit on who can enter; only that the cars be street legal. That leaves the door wide open for all sorts of modifications and automobiles to compete. The winner has their work cut out for them.
The event calls for competitors to race in a cruise, an autocross, hot laps, and more. But most importantly, coordinators are looking for true enthusiasts who embody the best of the automotive spirit. This is the Superbowl of automotive racing, with real cars and real people facing off in a competition to prove they are the best.
Do you have what it takes to compete?
