The heads up class of Ultra Street is becoming one of the most competitive classes in radial tire racing. With more limits than in X275, racers in Ultra Street have to really refine their combination to run at the front of the back. There’s also a wide variety of cars that race in Ultra Street, but this blown big body 1967 Chevelle Malibu might be one of the cleanest out there.

When the Chevelle started to roll off the assembly line in 1967 they could be purchased off the showroom floor with a few different engines, including the classic 327 cubic inch small block, or the 396-inch big block powerplant. These cars were also fairly large, weighing in at a hefty 3,256 lbs. — so making the base weight of 3,150 for this Chevelle isn’t too difficult.

The Chevelle in this video from BigKleib34 is far from stock and is packing some serious power under that smooth-as-glass black paint. A fuel injected 440 cubic inch LSX-based motor is providing the base of the car’s power while sucking in boost from a F-1C ProCharger. The owner of this exquisite GM A-Body explains they’re only testing right now at 14 to 15 pounds of boost and putting down nearly 1,100 horseower to the 275-sized Mickey Thompson radials. With what looks like little effort, the Chevelle rockets down the track and clicks off a 5.06 elapsed time at 141 mph — that’s good enough to make the top half the field at most Ultra Street races.
