Love it or hate it, the 5th-generation Camaro isn’t going anywhere. Every one of the existing three models is superb in the way of build quality, driving experience and performance. Even with the SS-based 1LE coming down the pike, the ultimate is still the ZL1.
Packing 580hp from it’s supercharged 6.2L LSA V8, magnetic shocks, and the best sport tuned suspension this side of the ZR1 Corvette, the 2012/2013 Camaro ZL1 is perfect for the enthusiast looking for the ultimate in late-model Camaros while giving the proverbial nod to the ’69 in terms of styling.
Recently, popular automotive correspondent and former ‘The Car Show’ host, Matt Farrah takes a friend on a cruise through the Southern California mountains on Mulholland Drive, just on the outskirts of Los Angeles. We have the full video of it posted above courtesy of YouTube.
The ZL1 handles the SoCal mountain road with ease and finesse.
Apparently, there was some sort of motorcycle event going on nearby, as the winding road was filled with sport bikes of all types during Farrah and Co.’s adventure on the mountain road. Farrah even received a single-finger salute from one gentleman on a bike, as the Camaro was riding a little too close for the biker’s taste.

580hp of LSA is under your right foot at all times. Impressive power, handling, looks... all in one package. Whats not to like about the ZL1?
Most of the video was shot in-car, and we get a few outside car shots of the Camaro to drool over. Although it’s not the most epic video of a ZL1, it’s still cool to watch GM’s latest and greatest pony car offering demonstrate what it could do in real world conditions.
