The new, 5th-generation Chevy Camaro is a lot of things. Brash. Loud. Attention grabbing. It is anything but a low-key car, especially with the big 6.2 liter LS3 V8 under the hood. It’s a car that is impossible to ignore, even in its stock form. Step up to the supercharged ZL1 model though, and you’re obviously a person looking to make a statement…something like “Look at my big, loud, insanely fast car!”

Yet that fact seemed lost on many Camaro fans last week when 813 Customs debuted it’s most controversial car ever, the King ZL1. Rides Magazine has the low down on this Camaro turned haterade lightning rod, laying out a few key facts that might dial back the calls for blood from keyboard tough guys.

First and foremost, King ZL1 is not even a ZL1 Camaro. Rather, it’s a Camaro SS with a ZL1 body kit. Many people seemed incensed by the idea that here, in AMERICA, someone would buy a limited edition car like the ZL1 and customize it to their own tastes. Although, the bright gold paintjob, three 23-inch television sets, 30-inch wheels, and absurd amount of speakers might not be appealing to everybody…or even most people for that matter.

But so what? Owning and modifying a car is about standing out in the crowd, and you can be damn sure the King ZL1 won’t be mistaken for anything else. The aqua-suede interior might offend your sense of style, and the dozens of speakers might blow out your eardrums…but so what? Live and let live we say…30-inch wheels or not.
