Driving a high-powered performance car is a privilege that too many people take for granted, though it can be easy to get lost behind the wheel of a 400-horsepower road monster. It takes more discipline than most people realize not to just hammer the throttle and peel past every speed limit-obeying peon on the road. But there’s a reason 99% of us resist that temptation day in and day out.
We know that one wrong move is all it takes to put our car in the scrap heap, and us in a body bag. This close call video posted to reddit shows how one Camaro driver almost caused a serious accident on one of Malibu’s famous canyon roads.
It was, as usual in California, a lovely day for a trip through the Malibu canyon roads. But a trio of need-do-wells showed up in a black BMW M3, a red Mazdaspeed 3, and the black Camaro. These roads are neither wide nor straight, and it could only be heated impatience that compelled the Camaro driver to try and pass not one but TWO cars on a terribly blind corner.
In the middle of the pass, a Volvo comes around the blind corner, and the brand new (as marked by the tail lights) Camaro manages to skirt by with only inches to spare. The Ford Explorer driver in front of the video car has to pull over from the close call, and who can blame her? A foot to one side or the other, and that could have been a major accident. It’s d-bags like this that give car enthusiasts everywhere a bad name.
