You’re reading this on the internet, and because you have an internet connection, you are obligated to be aware of Grumpy Cat, the scowling feline poster kitty for all things negative. And because the internet takes anything even mildly amusing and popular to absurd extremes, Grumpy Cat’s career went from a few viral memes, to pitching Friskies on TV, to having her (yes, GC is female, and her real name is Tardar Sauce) very own full length TV movie called “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.”
So why do we care? Well, it seems that in the movie, which is currently airing the Lifetime network (check your local listings or watch online), the theft of a 2014 Camaro RS by Grumpy and her 12-year-old friend in order to thwart a pair of bad guys is a major plot point in the grand finale.
You see, Grumpy lives in this mall pet store, and there is a plot afoot to steal the million-dollar dog that will pay the rent. People get tied up, paintballs fly, fourth walls are broken, and in the end Grumpy gets a new home with the girl who is the only human who can hear her speak, thanks to what Grumpy refers to as a “wasted Christmas wish.”
For something based on an internet meme, it’s actually pretty entertaining and well-written, and you get a chase scene with a Camaro convertible versus a Toyota Yaris at the end. Should you spend two hours of your life on it?
