Video: Edelbrock’s 2012 Charity Rev’ved Up For Kids

Christi Edelbrock may be the VP of Business Development at Edelbrock, but there is another title to her name that she is very passionate about. She’s the founder of “Rev’ved Up For Kids“, a charity organization supporting complex challenged kids and their families, with all proceeds going to the Center for Learning Unlimited.

This past May they held their 7th annual event at Edelbrock, and exceeded all of their expectations thanks to support to industry partners, volunteers, sponsors and the local community. Focusing on kicking off Edelbrock’s upcoming 75th anniversary next year, Christi and Edelbrock went all out this year with some big names in the automotive industry and one of the largest car show events in Southern California – and we were there to see it all.

Christi Edelbrock, founder of Rev'ved Up For Kids and Ginni Matthews from the Center for Learning unlimited were on hand to talk to our own Bobby Kimbrough.

Edelbrock held shop tours at their Torrance facilities, where visitors were guided through the various departments and learned about Edelbrock’s history with aftermarket performance. They went through R&D, the dyno room and the “toy barn”, and everyone got to see the kind of work that Edelbrock does on a regular basis to bring automotive performance to their customers.

Saturday afternoon, the “Back To Where It All Began” legends party took place at Vic’s garage, showcasing 12 automotive legends who left even our own Bobby Kimbrough feeling like a kid in a candy store. The party, hosted by Alan Taylor and Bruce Meyer, included George Barris, Andy Brizio, George Follmer, Sam Foose, Ed Iskendarian, Parnelli Jones, Dave McClelland, Ed Pink, Louie Senter, Gene Winfield and Alex Xydias and, of course, Vic Edelbrock, Jr.

The Back to Where it all Began Legends party, and a fire breathing street rod, entertained the crowd at Edelbrock's facilities in Torrance.

Many of the legends recounted stories about their experiences with Vic Edelbrock, Sr., some expressing how Vic Sr. had taught them the right and wrong way to do things. With all these well known hot rodders, it’s hard to believe they could follow up the legends party with anything spectacular, but Edelbrock pulled it off with a car show the next day, packed with over 450 cars.

All of the VIP and vendor spaces were sold out, as the crowd was entertained with live music, awards, autographs and competitions, and they got to see some pretty cool and familiar cars. If this was to kick off their upcoming anniversary, we can hardly wait to see what they will do next year to celebrate 75 years.
