The Ford vs. Chevy battle is a never ending war of two car manufacturers. While the front line in this war might be midsize sedans, the spec-ops are definitely the muscle cars. Mustang and Camaro have been battling it out for over four decades now, and in that time we’ve seen just about everything this car makers have to offer. Except maybe this unique ride.

Over at Hot Rod Homepage is a Ford-blue ’68 Camaro powered by a Ford 302 engine. Heresy, you might say, yet we think this weird, wild ride perfectly epitomizes four decades of muscle car wars.

This wild car is owned by Ron DeRaad, who originally had the twin-turbo 302 setup in a ’93 Mustang. He let that car go, but could not part with the engine setup. Instead, he got his hands on a great condition ’68 Camaro, which he traded his Mustang for, and decided that his twin-turbo 302 would be a great fit.

The engine is a R302 block with a Comp Cams camshaft and Canton dry sump oil pan. It has roller rockers, a custom intake, and an Incon twin-turbo setup. To fit the turbo and all the supporting mods, the engine had to sit back in the bay about four inches. Such an engine calls for a fuel injection setup as well. It never ceases to amaze us what crazy car guys can come up with these days, and we’re sure some Chevy guys are gonna get their hands on a ’66 Mustang and drop some kind of Chevy motor in it as revenge.

That’s how the muscle car wars stay alive.
