Can you believe another week is about to land on our garage floor? Friday is almost here. It’s true when they say time flies when you’re having fun. Now that Thursday has hit us straight in the face and the end of the week announcing its arrival, it’s time for another Throwback Thursday.
This week, we are taking a trip back to February 2013. That’s when Bobby Kimbrough sat down with Smitty Smith, technical sales coordinator at Edelbrock And put together Edelbrock’s New E-Street Heads Offer Affordable Speed. Smitty has logged in nearly three decades at Edelbrock. Prior to that, Smitty worked at several speed shops. Always looking to be a merchant of speed, Smitty was also an employee of Mr. Gasket Company and 4-Wheel Parts Warehouse.

The Edelbrock (part number 5089) E-Street cylinder heads are designed for use with 1955 through 1986 small-block Chevy applications. The E-Street cylinder heads offer American-made quality and affordable performance. E-Street cylinder heads feature as-cast ports and are designed for entry-level street performance applications operating in the idle-to-5,500 rpm range.
In the original article, Smitty discusses how the E-Street and Performer cylinder heads came about. “The E-Street package was a result of our company facing competition in the aftermarket,” said Smitty. “Frankly, we learned that our customers were purchasing other brands of cylinder heads simply due to the price point.”
Smitty went on to talk about how Edelbrock was able to reduce cost and retain quality, and pass those features on to consumers. There’s a lot more to this incredible story, and that definitely makes it worthy of a second look. For that reason, I selected Edelbrock’s New E-Street Heads Offer Affordable Speed as this week’s Throwback Thursday showcase article.
