Patriotism is a light that no force can extinguish and from time to time, it bursts out when least expected. So it was at the recent Camaro5 Fest in Arizona, when GM put this Camaro SS on display. The heartbeat of America must have quickened for the weekend as this visual history book displayed many of the pivotal moments in the country’s past.

According to reports, the conversion – it’s really hard just to call this a mere paint job – of this Camaro involved 350 hours of labor by world-renowned artist, Mickey Harris. Other than the glass and lighting, there isn’t a square inch of this car that hasn’t been airbrushed. The mural wraps from the roof all the way down to the rockers, and from the front to the rear bumper cover.

Named ‘American Pride’ by the GM employee that made it happen – Scott Settlemire – he wanted the car to tell a story of America and it’s struggles for freedom, both home and abroad. In his own words…

“The ‘American Pride Camaro’ represents America ….and our struggle for freedom throughout our country’s history. America represents freedom and hope for people worldwide. Our Freedom is the envy of the world… but it did not come easy –it did not come cheaply… and we did not attain it without making so many, many sacrifices…

Throughout history, other countries have called on America, through its armed services – to come to their rescue. Many countries have remained free or have received freedom from America’s ‘peace through military strength’ policy… and that’s what this Camaro honors.”
