Five new performance option packages for the 2016 Camaro have been announced. The media has already dubbed the 2016 Camaro as the most high tech muscle car of all time and we can confirm, it lives up to its name. For clarification these aren’t trim packages like 1LT, 2LT, SS etc but performance packages and luxury packages available for the different trims, to make the driving experience that much nicer.

Brembo Brake Package

New powerful stopping options from Brembo will be available for the 1LT, 2LT and SS trims. The 1LT and 2LT (Turbo 4 and V-6 Camaros) will have two Brembo brake options, a Brembo four-piston front brake set up with red calipers, slotted rotors and performance pads. This set up is similar to the stock brake set on the SS trims. Option 2 is a six-piston set up made up of red calipers, high performance brake pads and slotted rotors. This is the only upgrade for the SS trims they are equipped with a performance four-piston package as standard equipment.

RS Package

The RS is back but it won’t be a trim like it was during the later part of the F-Body era. Instead it will be an appearance package like it was during the original Camaro’s first two generations. Much like the early Camaros, the RS package will give the Camaro a sportier appearance. It will achieve this be adding gray 20-inch, five-spoke wheels as well as HID headlights and LED taillights and a custom RS grill as well as a deck lid spoiler.

If your 1LT or 2LT Camaro is equipped with the RS package, the Heavy Duty Cooling and Brake Package is also an option. This package equips the 3.6L V6 model with an external engine oil cooler, a high capacity engine cooling system and the Brembo four-piston brake upgrade package. The models with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine get all of the above but they also receive an auxiliary radiator to further cool the engine.

Convenience and Lighting Package

The Convenience and Lighting Package is only available for the 2LT trim level and spices up the interior with a few high-tech gadgets. It includes a driver seat memory package, a wireless device charging system, a heated steering wheel, heads up display, rear parking assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind zone alert with lane change assist, body color painted power and heated exterior mirrors, an interior lighting upgrade, lighted door sill plates and bright aluminum trim on the door trim and shifter.

Technology Package

For those ordering the 1LT trim level the Technology Package is a valuable option. This package gives the 1LT a few futuristic upgrades of it’s own such as the Chevy Mylink touchscreen info system and a Bose nine speaker sound system.
