Street Feature: Ken Riggs’ Always Driven, Never Trailered 1955 Chevy

1200-15This 1955 Chevy two door sedan is owned by Ken Riggs of Port Angeles, Washington, and is always driven, never trailered. Ken believes in driving his car instead of towing it to shows. He keeps it on the road where it was meant to go.

He has had the car almost six years and it was already a basic restoration when he got it. “It had a 14-15 year old restoration on it already,” Ken told us. “I was born in 1955 and had a black and white one in high school. That was back when they were $200 a piece to buy and sell.” Ken remembers the days when you could get cars like this in decent shape cheap.

1200-25Ken is a Tri-Five lover at heart and has owned more than his fair share. He’s had two pickups and four cars. “I’ll probably never sell this one,” he said. “It’s a real good driver.” It’s no surprise it’s a good driver when you come to find out that it has a 383 cubic-inch stroker motor and 700-R4 transmission.

Along with an improved engine and transmission, this ’55 has also been upgraded with front disc brakes, Flowmaster exhaust, MSD ignition components, and undercoated undercarriage. The Holley carburetor does a great job powering the engine while the 3.55:1 positraction rearend by Woody’s Hot Rodz really helps translate that power to the tires.

If you want your car or truck to be a part of our Street Feature series, all you have to do is shoot us an email and tell us about your ride and we will make it happen.
