Remember when we posted about the Silverado And Corvette Chosen As Indy 500 Festival Event Vehicles? Well, it looks like more details are surfacing, especially for those eyeing gently used Indy 500 Corvettes.
Twelve of the special Corvette Stingray festival cars from this year’s big race are reportedly popping up at Chevy dealerships.
Word comes from a Facebook group moderator for pace car lovers, who says a source confirmed Chevy is getting the paperwork ready for these unique convertibles.
These aren’t just any Stingrays. Each Indy 500 Corvette is an Arctic White convertible with a Jet Black interior.
They all wear sharp dual green stripes with gold borders, plus custom Indianapolis 500 graphics on the doors, with “Indy 500” shown proudly in bright white. While they all share those cool aesthetics, the exact options on each car vary.
For instance, someone posted a window sticker for festival car No. 3. This Stingray convertible carries a sticker price of $108,015.
It’s loaded with goodies like the Z51 performance package, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, a visible carbon-fiber spoiler and mirror caps, a Carbon Flash-painted roof and nacelles, Satin Graphite wheels, black rocker panels, black exhaust tips, and premium floor mats.
Now, these Indy 500 Corvette Stingrays are special, but the actual cars that paced the Indy 500 laps were even more potent: two Corvette ZR1s. The Facebook user believes festival cars No. 2 and No. 7 were the ZR1s.
There is also a fun story about car No. 1: a seller thinks Roger Penske got it first, then offered it to a well-known pace car collector. If that’s true, one collector is likely very happy.
The Corvette has a rich history at the Indy 500, and this year’s race was a big one because the awesome ZR1 – America’s fastest production car – made its triumphant return.
The Corvette festival cars, with their direct link to the event, special features, and super-low numbers, are definitely collector’s items that should hold their value well over time.
So, for serious collectors and die-hard fans, grabbing an Indy 500 Corvette at your local dealership is a rare shot at grabbing a real piece of Chevrolet history. Happy hunting, bowtie fans!
