When you see a car with flashing lights riding your tail, every driver tenses up a bit in anticipation of a ticket. Getting pulled over by the real police is bad enough, but some knuckleheads down in Tennessee have been impersonating police officers in their yellow Camaro. They’ve pulled over and robbed at least three unsuspecting motorists, and the REAL police are warning drivers to be cautious of supposed cops in the Cheshire area.
News Channel 5 reports that the Cheshire Police Department has released sketches of the two accused cop impersonators, and are asking for the public’s help in tracking down the culprits.
Since February, two men in a late model yellow Camaro have preyed on numerous motorists, pulling them over and then robbing them at gunpoint. Victims describe one man as a male in his 30s wearing a baseball cap, and the other is described as a black male around 6-feet tall. Pretty general information we know, but this far nobody has managed to scoop a plate number.
It’s a bold move for sure, especially in gun-toting Tennessee, where victims are just as likely as criminals to be strapping heat. Going with a Camaro over a Crown Vic probably throws victims for a loop as well, as they’re unlikely to try and run from a 420+ horsepower “police interceptor.” Let’s hope the real cops catch these perps before someone gets hurt.
