Since his very public fallout with his father, and departure from Orange County Choppers, Paul Teutul Jr. wanted to design more than just bikes. His latest venture, in partnership with Trans American Muscle, is a limited production run Camaro based largely off of the designs of his build-off winning chopper.
The aerospace themes from the bike carry over, and are front and center with the use of “wing like” aluminum sheet metal and airplane rivets on the hood, roof, deck lid and side trim. The asymmetrical design to the sheet metal gives the car a unique hand crafted look, something that has been stylistically absent from most cars built post bronze-era, and topped off with the PJD “crown” on the grill. The prop style wheels from the chopper find their way onto the Camaro as well, in the form of 22-inch Forgiato wheels on 265/35 (front) and 295/30 (rear) Pirellis. SLP subframe connectors and a full K&W coilover suspension keep all that rubber planted.
While much of the interior remains standard 5th gen, the PJD/TAM team gave this special edition a few custom touches. The car features a Hurst pistol-grip shifter, PJD logo embroidered seats, and “Paul Junior Designs” riveted door sills.
With all of the aircraft talk, it doesn’t seem to much to ask to want this ride to fly. And fly it does, with its LS3 topped with a beefy 2.9L Whipple Supercharger. This air-mover displaces nearly 175 cubic inches; tell the Harley guys that your blower has more displacement than their engine and you might not make friends but you will win races. To free all that incoming air, the Camaro was equipped with an SLP exhaust and x-pipe meaning it sounds as good as it looks. All this performance is 50 state legal, and the car carries most of its factory warranty, with Whipple carrying their own warranty on the blower.
Production on these cars will be limited to 77 vehicles, with a copper number plate fastened on the deck lid. While many companies mark each car numerically based on order of production, TAM is giving customers the option to select any available number for their Camaro. Availability is based on order of reservation, with car #01 going to Paul Jr. himself.
