Painless Performance TORC Trans Controller

There’s no denying modern day electronics have made their way into street rods and traditional muscle cars. Not only with the creature comforts of today’s modern new vehicles inside the cabin, but with the performance benefits of late model power plants and drive trains. These engines and transmissions are the ticket for great performance and terrific drivability, especially when coupled with an electronically controlled overdrive transmission.

Just like a fuel injected engine, modern day overdrive transmissions are controlled by electronics and deliver superior drivability and performance. Internally these transmissions still incorporate fluid and hydraulic technology to shift, lock clutch packs and lubricate gears, but now they take their cues from an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) rather than from a vacuum modulator, governor and kick down cable. This can present a challenge when installing one in your project vehicle, whether the engine is a carbureted 289 small block or an EFI fed 502. Fortunately, Painless has the solution.

The Perfect TORC Transmission Controller makes controlling your late model GM or Ford automatic transmission Painless and gives you total control over its shift characteristics. The compact controller requires only a few connections and features a software program that truly is simple to set up and program. The Windows based software package has a unique “setup wizard” which allows you to select from several base calibrations for your specific transmission. Once the setup wizard is completed you can modify shift points and firmness yourself. You can control up-shifts and down-shifts with the click of your mouse! Also, you can leave your laptop connected and review MPH, TPS Voltage, Fluid Temp, Battery Voltage and more as you drive down the street.  

The TORC Controller is also compatible with most aftermarket paddle shifters, can be setup for push-button shifting and features a programmable speed sensor output signal to easily synchronize your aftermarket speedometer. (Compatible with most aftermarket EFI systems as well). For dual purpose driving, TORC also features dual shift tables that lets you choose between a street shift program as well as a race program with the flip of an included toggle switch.  

Perfect TORC Controllers are available for the GM 4L60/65E and 4L80/85E transmissions and are compatible with carbureted or fuel injected engines and even diesel power.
