When you think of the LS engine, a lot of people think of junkyard pull-out powerplants. However, the Gen-III and Gen-IV small-blocks are so much more. There are even aftermarket blocks for the LS platform with a raised cam tunnel in order to improve valvetrain geometry. In order to take advantage of such a feature, you’ll need a timing set specifically designed for that alternate cam location. Enter Engine Pro.
Designed specifically for three-bolt, four-sensor sprocket applications, the Engine Pro camshaft sprockets are CNC-machined from billet steel for accuracy and reliability and come with press-fit Torrington bearings for smooth high-RPM operation. The crank sprockets are CNC-machined with nine keyway options allowing for eight degrees of timing advance or retard. That amount of adjustability allows you to get your cam installed exactly where you want it, even if that is just straight-up.
The timing chain is designed to handle all the power you’d expect from an application using a raised-cam-location aftermarket engine block. Both options consist of 62 individual .250-inch-diameter double roller links made from premium steel. The kit is available with a Rolon seamless chain (P/N: 08-2036T-9RRC) or a premium IWIS chain with a seam (P/N: 08-2036T-9GRC), both of which have the oil pump installation shims included.
Regardless of what combination you’re running with your raised-cam application, having a rock-solid timing set with a range of adjustability is a critical part of building a badass bullet. Engine Pro’s billet double-roller timing sets fit that bill perfectly.
