As we’ve stated time and again – we are all for personal expression. However, in our performance-centric opinion, it seems more than a bit backwards to take a car as capable and impressive as the Camaro ZL1, and essentially neuter it of all it’s wonderful performance abilities for the sake of aesthetics. We recently came across this post by a “horrified” Mike Musto over at Autoholics.com of what just may be the very first donk’d ZL1. It’s not our job to judge, but we have to wonder why anyone would spend $55K plus on a ZL1 only to rob it of what makes it so special?
It’s tough to say for sure, but hopefully the Camaro is just badged with a ZL1 body kit to appear as if it is the real deal. It seems to have all the necessary elements of a genuine ZL1, with a few – how shall we say – additions? Additions like huge wheels and a flashy non-stock paint color. Of course, with massive 28″ rims, the integrity of the body itself must be sacrificed to fit such huge wheels, and we can only imagine what it went through. If it is a real ZL1, looks like the awesome magnetic ride control shocks are long gone, and this thing rides more similar to the covered wagon from the Oregon Trail grade school video game. You know; the one that always broke wheels? Yeah. That one.
So tell us, do you think this donk is a real deal ZL1, or a V6 with a ZL1 body kit? It’s not our car, but we still sincerely hope it’s the latter.
