Back in 2012, Mattel and General Motors partnered up to create a limited edition Hot Wheels package for the fifth-gen Camaro. It was fitted with special badging, a one-of-a-kind blue paint color, and other little details throughout the car’s exterior.
Fast forward to today, about five years later, and we’ve just recently passed up the Camaro’s 50th anniversary. Mattel payed tribute to the legendary sports car we all know and love with various “50th Anniversary” Hot Wheels toy cars.
Famous YouTuber, Lethal Camaro (less often known as his real name, Matt), showed off a couple of them he got a hold of, along with some potentially exciting news.
He came across some documents, hidden under what General Motors is calling the “Spring Edition” car, showing what appears to be a real life Hot Wheels edition sixth-gen Camaro.
It looks like the drawings solely feature the LT trim level, but a couple of different details are outlined– showcasing special badging, a blacked out trunk, and stripes flowing over the spoiler, deck lid, hood, and all the way down to the front fascia.
Matt also pointed out that it seems the SS and RS logos are going to be placed smack dab in the middle of the trunk but, to us, it looks like they’re going right back in the same oddly-placed lower left hand corner as before. Nonetheless, its obvious that the badging will feature the Hot Wheels logo, as before, and an added “50th”.
But, if the Camaro’s 50th anniversary has passed, could Chevy really be making a limited-edition car for Hot Wheels’ 50th? What do you think– Is Chevy yet again partnering with Mattel?
