Corvette enthusiasts are a passionate group of people – both passionate for Corvettes in general, and sharing the joy of Corvettes with others. While some enthusiasts are diehard about a specific generation or two, there is an entirely different portion of the Corvette community that is passionate about all things Corvette.

We recently had the opportunity to come across a newly-published Corvette history book that covers all-things Corvette from 1953-1982. Being sold as a history book that goes into the golden years of what formed the Corvette enthusiast foundation, Corvette – America’s Star-Spangled Sports Car focuses on the time period between 1953 and 1982 with a wealth of information and high quality pictures to make any Corvette lover happy.

For the more seasoned Corvette enthusiast, you may remember a book by the same title that was released in 1973. This version, written by Karl Ludvigsen, does share the same title, but has considerably more content and pictures than the 1973 version. Everything that happened during the Corvette’s most formative years is covered including special edition Vettes, the Corvette racing heritage, the Corvette development and production cycle, and a full circle view on how the Corvette dealt with its competition to set the foundation of the iconic brand. 

In addition to great pictures, a well thought-out layout, and an easy to follow style, this book is full of technical information which we found to be very informative. The book goes into great detail about numerous Corvette power plants, how they differed, what their pros and cons were, and why certain power plants ended up being selected to power the iconic Corvette. 

With 52 chapters, 989 pictures, and 784 full-color pages, Corvette – America’s Star-Spangled Sports Car is sure to have a wealth of interesting material for Corvette enthusiasts and for those looking to share the mystique of Corvettes with others.
