Hopefully, the awesome vanity plates go with the car…

If you’re looking to own a bit of history, and you have 32 grand burning a hole in your pocket, this just might be the place to drop down your cash. Our daily search for Corvette news turned up this RPO B2K Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette for sale over at corvetteforum.com.

What’s so special about this car, you ask? The RPO B2K was the only time in Chevrolet’s history that a specialist manufacturer was entrusted with a technically advanced, high performance RPO. The 1987-1991 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette could be ordered from select US dealerships, with the cars shipped to Callaway’s facility in Old Lyme, Connecticut for the twin turbo conversion, and then returned to the dealership for delivery. GM even went so far as to cover the Callaway conversion under their standard 12-month/12,000 mile warranty. Production of the Callaway Corvette was planned at just 500 – according to the Corvette Black Book, 188 were sold in ’87, 125 in ’88, 67 in ’89, 58 in ’90, and 71 in ’91, for an actual total of 509.

Now that you have a better idea of why this this car is a gem, let’s take a closer look at your new investment. Boasting approximately 420 horsepower and 540 pound-feet to the wheels with 12 PSI of boost, this silver beauty is #57 out of the factory and has a red interior, a rare combo according to the seller. Because he likes to drive his cars, he says, the mileage is at a healthy 34,000. Cosmetically, the car looks to be in very good condition. The sport leather driver’s seat is intact, but not perfect at 25 years old. Some minor cracks typical of the C4 era are present in the plastic trim around screw holes. The accident-free exterior has no body issues and all panels are lined up.

6119076070_80ba64b7fb_bAs you would expect for a 25-year-old car, the seller has made some tweaks and replaced some maintenance items. The stock motor has updated GM Gen III FIC injectors, valve springs have been replaced, and new valve stem seals added. A Keisler TKO 600 was installed to replace the factory 4+3 unit, which makes for a more enjoyable drive.

A SPEC Stage 2 clutch was installed to hold the torque, and 1996 Corvette Grand Sport brake calipers and rotors were added. Overall, the seller reports that the car drives with no shakes or shimmies, steering is straight, and everything works- cruise control, windows, lights, HVAC, etc. Many more details can be found in the original post, and by contacting the seller.

So, if you’re interested in joining the ranks of Callaway owners, be sure to check this car out. For the asking price of $32,000 or an interesting trade, you could star in the next YouTube video, tearing up the streets to the uplifting sound of Rage Against the Machine.
