Driving our hot rods and muscle cars is what the hobby is all about, right? Well, if you have plans July 15th-17th, change them and head to Joliet, Illinois for the first annual Heidts Performance Car Challenge. This is your opportunity to get your performance machine out on the track to see what she can do.
The Heidts Performance Car Challenge is a dedicated open track and performance enthusiast event being held at the Autobahn Country Club, an exclusive auto enthusiast community about an hour Southwest of Chicago.
According to Cari Southworth, Director of Marketing for Heidts and Kenny Brown Brands, “This inaugural year for the Heidts Performance Car Challenge will be comprised of four challenges – Heidts Track Car Challenge, Nitto Autocross Challenge, Wilwood Braking Challenge and QA1 Road Rally. This year’s event will form the foundation for future expansion to multiple events in 2012.”
The weekend’s festivities will commence at Heidts Hot Rod and Muscle Car Parts’ headquarters in Wauconda, IL on Friday July 15th where participants will enjoy a BBQ and facility tour. The QA1 Road Rally will allow drivers the opportunity to enjoy the scenic route on their way from Heidts to the Holiday Inn in Joliet.
The 1.8-mile, 10-turn Audobahn North Course will get the blood pumping Saturday morning and The Carbon Kustoms Karting Enduro will cap off the evening. Sunday’s entertainment includes the Nitto Tires Autocross Challenge, Wilwood Braking Challenge, and participant dinner and awards ceremony.
Whether you roll a ’65 Falcon or a 2011 SRT8 Challenger 392, you are welcome to participate. Entrants can enjoy, not only the technical events, but also the Rt. 66 Car Care Products car show and a Midway chock-full if the latest and greatest performance goodies. Of course, Heidts will have quite a spread which will include their ’71 Camaro development car with the NEW Kenny Brown tuned PRO-G Super Handling Suspension.
