There is no shortage of tuners over in Europe and while they may devote a lot of time to their domestic makes, there is a growing trend for North American ponycars to grab their attention as well. Interestingly enough, when a good tuner lays some Euro style on a ponycar, the result can be impressive and that appears to be the case with SpeedBox’s Camaro SS “Black Cat.”
The matte black paint trend appears to have landed across the pond and that’s where this Camaro’s mods start. A supercharger kit developed by the company jumps the 6.2-liter V8 output to 625 hp, helped out by a Borla stainless exhaust system. Rims for the car are available in either 20-inch or 22-inch diameters. These Rhino wheels by FELGE, feature a stainless steel faceplate that can easily be replaced in case of damage.
In the 22-inch realm, a staggered approach is used, with 265/30ZR22 tires on 10-inch wide rims and 295/25ZR22 meats over11-inch rims out back. This kind of image is backed up with appropriate chassis mods, including a coil-over conversion from H&R along with their sway bars.
Changing gears from their bread and butter VW-tuning background, Speedbox appears to be moving upscale in their marketplace. While there’s no shortage of high performance cars in Europe, their distinctive touches are turning a car that is already unusual there, into a real head-turner.
