Chevy Performance Will Pay Your Way To Race In Street Car Challenge

We’ve been asking for something like this for a long time, and we’re glad someone was listening. The NMCA has just announced a new series they are calling the Street Car Challenge, officially lowering the barrier to entry for LS and LT fans who just want to run their ride on the track without having to build their car to a specific class. The series is backed by the guys over at Chevrolet Performance and allows anyone with an LS or Gen V LT-powered vehicle of any kind, including swapped vehicles, to compete in a dedicated racing class at five of the largest NMCA races of the season.

Not only is the series open to any vehicle powered by the General’s latest and greatest engine platforms, Chevrolet Performance will also pay your way to race. Yes, you read that right, Chevrolet will literally pay you to race your car (up to a $175 value). If that isn’t the best thing you’ve read all day, you need to see your doctor.

What’s more, if you’re a general newbie to drag racing, it’s not a problem. Chevrolet and the NMCA will walk you through the process with step-by-step directions in a no-stress group environment. If you’ve never drag raced before, this is probably the best way to get your ride on the track and see what it can do in the quarter-mile.

However, if you’re a seasoned racer but still have a streetcar, the event is open to you as well–as long as you’re rolling LS or LT power. Heck, you might even find a couple of new racers to take under your wing and show the ropes in the process. The Street Car Challenge is set to take place on Saturdays at many of the NMCA’s standard events. Want to get in a little track time beforehand? No problem. You can also enter open test and tune on Thursday to help get you acquainted with the track.

The Street Car Challenge is being offered at five NMCA events including All-Star Nationals in Commerce, Georgia, Bluegrass Nationals in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Super Bowl at Joliet, Illinois, All-American Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, and last but not least World Street Finals in Indianapolis, Indiana. Visit NMCA’s site here for the official dates and times and to print off your entry form. We’ve got to admit, as left coasters, we’re green with jealous rage. You’re not going to want to miss this event. After all, they are basically paying you to race and that’s the dream, right?
