In our never ending search for more power and how to contain it, one area that has been gaining ground is the centrifugal supercharger. But as boost levels increase, so does that possibility that you’re going to throw a ribbed belt or two when you’re out pushing your car to its limit.

One way to combat the smaller, ribbed belt failure is to install a supercharger drive system from Chris Alston’s Chassisworks. Called Component Drive Systems (CDS) these new products offer bolt-on, belt and gear-driven supercharger drives for racing and performance engines. The billet aluminum supercharger drives are designed for single and dual drive systems, and will work with ProCharger, Vortech and Paxton centrifugal superchargers.

They’re designed for the SBC and BBC, LS engines, and Ford small block and modular motors, and the gear and pulley sets can be configured to over or under drive the supercharger for optimum performance.

While the single drives are available in belt drive, the dual drive system is gear driven only, and includes an integrated timing pointer, a crank trigger mount and an oil level sight glass. In some applications a gear case vent is also available.

In addition to the duties of driving a supercharger, these drives can also be set up as accessory drives – driving up to seven components off the power supplied by the crankshaft. This includes alternators, fuel pumps, power steering pumps, and water pumps, to name a few.
