Any Corvette fan worth their salt should make it down to Kentucky at least once in their lifetime.
Not only is GM’s Corvette Final Assembly located in Bowling Green, but the Corvette National Museum and it’s Motorsports Park are just across the highway. It’s a holy trifecta of all things “plastic fantastic” but as of late, there’s been storm clouds hovering above the “wailing wall,” of Corvettedom.
First off, a sinkhole swallowed up a bunch of significant ‘Vettes inside the museum, and then after much wrangling, the city approved and permitted race track is now tied up in a lawsuit over noise complaints. Ironically, these adverse events have garnered a lot of publicity for the attraction and attendance has actually increased. Go figure.
Nevertheless, lawsuits and natural disasters ain’t cheap and maybe that’s why NCM Motorsports is selling off chunks of land surrounding the complex. The museum has announced that 17 acres are now available for patrons who would like to join the NCM Motorsports “Park Acre Club.”
Each acre is $15,000 tax-deductible, payable by the end of the year, and in return, your contribution will be remembered on the donor wall at the Holley Control Tower to be built next year. In return for the $15K you get an honorary deed for your acre, inclusion on the park website, and the opportunity to buy exclusive Acre Club merchandise.
If that’s too rich for your blood, go here, to sign a petition to support the park and find ways to abate the noise so NCM can be a good neighbor. In the meantime, add the trek to Bowling Green to your Corvette bucket list.
