While roaming through the wild west, Dave spotted an impressive Chevy Impala in field, and shared it with one of our favorite sites – CarsinBarns.com. This Impala is a 1968 SS427 that Dave spotted sitting in a field next to a barn in rural Texas. The car looked rough and worn on the outside, and it’s original paint had been replaced with a two tone surface rust paint job. Despite this, all of the trim, the lights, the mirrors and the interior where still intact.

The best part of this car was the fact that it still had it’s original 385 HP 427. The 427 looked rough as well, the motor was covered in dust, grass and cobwebs. Despite it’s rough appearance it still fired to life and it still runs.

The Impala has been sitting in the same place since 1973. It has just 70,000 original miles and it still has all of it’s original components. These include factory AC, bucket seats, a center console, an 8-track tape player, a 12 bolt rear, a TH400 transmission and manual drum brakes. Dave has nicked named the car Ed (Ed? Aren’t cars girls?) because the code on the assembly code tag on the master cylinder reads ED. It never ceases to amaze us that there are low mileage musclecars out their waiting to be restored.
