“This car is stratospherically fast. Saturn five rocket fast. Runway racer only fast,” said Matt Farah.
He recently had the awesome opportunity (as usual) to drive the only Corvette Aerowagen in existence. For those of you who don’t already know, the “shooting brake” conversion was created by longtime Corvette tuner, Callaway, and, in this case, came alongside a screamin’ power package.
The car is fitted with their 757 horsepower package and claims to deliver a 0 to 60 of only 2.8 seconds and a 10.5 second quarter mile– on street tires. The upgraded intercooled supercharger comes with a plethora of other modifications and a super loud exhaust– all while remaining completely warrantied, street, and CARB legal.
When paired with Callaway’s Aerowagen conversion, Matt claims the setup is extremely refined and truly seamless, easily making it daily driver material– but only for the right person.
Here’s the catch: its raw, its violent. He says its one of the scariest cars he’s ever driven, having so much power that it can’t be used to its full potential on the street. “The way [it] pulls from 90 to 150 practically made me crap my pants.” For someone with great driving experience (like Matt himself), the car is great. For newbies, not so much.
Aside from GM’s automatic transmission sounding like “Princess Leia choking Jabba the Hutt,” he seems to have been thoroughly enjoying the car. Not knowing the price of the power package, he said if it is less than $20K, it is a steal. And, guess what? it’s $18K.
