We caught up with John Drummond of Goodguys Rod & Custom Association at this year’s event. With the Goodguys 2014 circuit only two shows away from its close for the season, the hot topic on our minds was what enthusiasts and fans have to look forward to for the coming year. John gave us the lowdown, “Goodguys is always progressing, as you know. We’re always shooting to produce dynamic events for true vintage car enthusiasts as well as late-model enthusiasts.”
He continued, “For 2015 we’re excited to announce two new events–for one of them we’re going to smoke the tires again and bring it back to Bowling Green in September for a vintage drag race.”
We asked what was most important to Goodguys as an association dedicated, really, to serving a community of enthusiasts by providing memories, Drummond replied, “What’s important to us is that we’re always expanding and looking for new ways to deliver a better experience for our event attendees. That includes new event attractions within each of our shows, the creation of new awards, and new promotions.”
For those who don’t know about the G10 truck giveaway, Drummond explained the details on how to win this gorgeous ride built by Scott’s Hot Rods of Oxnard, California, “There’s three ways to win the G10 giveaway truck; you can register online which is the easiest way. Go to www.good-guys.com, hit the promo tab, and bam! You can also qualify to win by simply being a current member of Goodguys, and lastly, everyone that brings out a car to a Goodguys show gets what’s called a Lucky Sunday ticket–we’ll be pulling one of those at the awards ceremony. The truck’s new owner will be announced in July at our 18th PPG Nationals.”
There you have it folks, be sure to check out Goodguys’ website for next year’s complete event schedule and start plugging in your PTO to get those weekends off.
Whether it’s a vintage hot rod, musclecar, or late-model American–you can rest assured that Goodguys’ lifelong work has, and always will be, thinking of ways to provide a truly unique experience for young, old, and future generations of automotive enthusiasts.
