PRI 2024: Edelbrock’s New LSXR Race Blower Delivers “Smart” HP

If you have an LS3-swapped vehicle, your life is about to get a whole lot better.

Edelbrock has been making fantastic supercharger kits for nearly two decades, but its new Victor LSXR supercharger takes things to a level that is way beyond what it has previously offered. The new Roots-style race blower, specifically designed for LS3-swapped vehicles, is the first in a new series. It delivers all of the qualities Edelbrock’s superchargers are known for—and a whole lot more.

The new Victor-Series LSXR supercharger is designed for racing applications and on Edelbrock 427 LS dyno mule, it made 1,307 horsepower. Look carefully and you can see the second set of fuel rails under the intake.

The new Victor LSXR supercharger is aimed squarely at the racing market. It comes with three intercooler bricks built into the housing, an Eaton TVS rotor pack, and delivers enough punch to make over 1,300 horsepower on Edelbrock’s in-house dyno mule. Equally important, it comes with Bluetooth technology that allows you to dial in your boost and other important performance functions right from your phone or tablet.

The new LSXR supercharger was unveiled at the 2024 Performance Racing Industry Show in Indianapolis and promises to elevate street and strip performance to an entirely new level.

The sizing for the Eaton TVS rotor pack has not been announced, but it is certainly much more than the TVS 2650 rotors used in some street applications. Edelbrock’s David Page says this new Edelbrock supercharger took the company’s 427ci LS small-block dyno mule from 667 naturally-aspirated horsepower to 1,307 at 22 psi of boost. Torque was a tire-torturing 1,055 lb-ft.

There’s way more to this supercharger system than just spinning rotors, however.

“It has a dual-pass intercooler system, so there’s three intercooler bricks—one center brick and one over each bank of cylinders,” Page says. “We saw intake air temperatures go from 370 to 95 degrees between the exit of the rotors and the entry of the intake runners.”

See that lump front and center on the supercharger case? That is not, as you might think, hiding the center intercooler brick. It is the electronic bypass valve.

“One of the really nice features is there is an app-based control for boost, so you can set a maximum boost level,” Page says. He adds, “You can set a time-based boost ramp curve for traction control purposes. You can also monitor your intake air temperatures, boost, rpm, and throttle position on a live app. So there’s a live connection between the driver and the supercharger, and that’s made possible by this electronic control valve that’s mounted in the lid of this supercharger.”

The LSXR supercharger works with an app-based control that allows you to dial in different functions, such as boost, a time-based boost ramp curve for traction control purposes, and it can monitor your intake air temperatures, boost, among a myriad of other functions. The wire harness connects to a module, which will have a Bluetooth signal that can connect to a mobile app on your device.

To give you an idea of how much boost and horsepower can be dialed in with the LSXR supercharger, Page says the engine made 667 N/A, with the blower hooked up and the bypass valve fully opened it made 680, and with the valve closed it made 1,307 just days before the PRI Show.

The Bluetooth app is designed to work with Android and IOS systems. You can start out with the bypass fully closed and simply have it fully opened. It has a valet mode if someone needs to drive the car other than you.

Another trick feature of this Edelbrock supercharger system is it allows you to run 16 fuel injectors. There is a second set of fuel rails under the housing for high-horsepower applications.

Page notes the entire unit was designed to fit under a two-inch cowl hood, with lots of room to spare. In addition to making fitment easier, that means you can cruise around in a fairly unassuming hot rod and dial-up enough horsepower to make your competition cry.

The Victor LSXR is a totally new design for Edelbrock. The inlet is a whopping 120mm, so you can use a 120mm or 112mm throttle body. There will also be an adapter that allows you to employ a smaller 102mm throttle body. Airflow is optimized throughout the supercharger body. The system is not vehicle-specific, but it provides all the necessary core parts for the innovative racer/hot rodder.

No, there is no EO for 50-state compliance, as it is designed for racing applications. Still, we can see many of today’s hardcore drag-and-drive street muscle enthusiasts using this supercharger. Let’s face it: Many of today’s machines make more power than was ever imagined in the ‘60s and ‘70s. You may need the LSXR just to keep up.
