Racing is expensive. And many racers are always on the hunt for products that are well-designed, made in America, and won’t break the bank. That’s exactly what we have here in this intercooler tank system from the guys at Philadelphia Racing Products. The 5.50-gallon intercooler tank is designed to offer easy fitment, as its footprint easily fits into the spare tire well of any late-model vehicle, or any other mounting position that’s required.
According to PRP’s Rich Schonberger, “We use a high-quality billet 25 gallon-per-minute pump assembly that’s mounted to the side of the tank and already plumbed. It’s easy for someone to install and hook up the tank — there’s a power and ground for the pump, and then an incoming and outgoing water line, and that’s it.”
The pump’s bracket, welded to the side of the tank, offers a number of different mounting positions to offer flexibility for the end user. More importantly, there’s a billet 7-inch O-ring cap, providing plenty of room for the user to load the tank up with ice. There’s also an integral drain welded in to allow for easy water removal after a run — just hook up a piece of clear tubing and route as required.
The tanks are made in-house at PRP’s Philadelphia facility by American craftsmen, and retails for a reasonable $699; better yet, they offer free shipping on any product over $50, so the price is the price. PRP is owned by second-generation drag racers who hit the strip regularly, and with six CNC machines on the property, the parts catalog is full of billet goodness from wheelie bar wheels to billet remote water pumps, and more.
