Edelbrock, known throughout the industry for their wide range of products, was on site at PRI 2014 to show off their exciting new package of offering raw cylinder heads. To further eccentuate their raw cylinder head offerings, they brought with them some of the hottest names in the head-porting and engine building industry who were encouraged to work their magic on Edelbrock’s canvass. To get the scoop, we caught up with Troy Hooker who told us that the raw cylinder heads are “for the serious hardcore racers that want to get maximum power out of their heads as well as the guys that want a street head that will take them to the next level.”
One of the porting jobs that truly stole the show was Marty Zimmerman’s manifold from Kellen Brown Designs. The two teamed up to design a manifold specifically for late-model dirt racers that cuts weight and puts it up high where they need it. Hooker was quite impressed with the work Zimmerman did and said, “My personal favorite so far has been Marty Zimmerman’s, who took a 17-pound manifold and sculpted it down to six-pounds and it’s just been the talk of the show. These guys really know what they’re doing and we definitely learn from them!”
With so many porters and engine shops on site at the Edelbrock booth, Hooker expressed how it is a mutually beneficial relationship as they are all able to collaborate and share information – which in turn leads to generating a better product, more power, and happier customers all around. Hooker concluded, “We work with the hottest head-porters and engine shops in the business to help with our castings and create more power.”
