Quintin Brothers 1968 Chevy Camaro Heads to the Auction Block

Well it’s official, the Quintin Brothers’ 1968 Chevy Camaro build is about to be auctioned off to the highest bidder… on the other side of the planet. American muscle car culture has garnered a massive following in the Middle East in recent years, therefore, it only seems fitting that one of the greatest SEMA cars of all time would be heading to the auction block at the first ever Global Auto Salon in Riyadh, Saudi Arabi.

Quintin Brothers Custom 1968 Chevy Camaro Build

The Quintin Brothers’ instantly recognizable ’68 Camaro will be one of over 400 vehicles to be auctioned off during the event this week via Worldwide Auctioneers. Since muscle cars remain such a highly desired international commodity, chances are, this build will fetch a sizable closing bid, especially since it was built without any financial inhibitions.

Some of you may recall this brilliant blue-and-red build from a feature in Super Chevy  2017, where virtually every nut and bolt on this high-buck, no-limit build was explained. However, for those of you who aren’t familiar with this background story, here’s a quick synopsis, along with our thoughts as to why this build will fetch a hefty winning bid.

Rewind the clock a couple of years, and brothers Tim and Pete Quintin were discovering that their first SEMA build had the ability to make them automotive superstars. As owners of the Williston, Vermont, build shop, Quintin Bros. Auto & Performance, Tim and Pete are no stranger to wild builds. But, their ’68 Chevy Camaro SEMA project had taken things to a whole new level, as the shop’s 1968 Camaro body from Dynacorn was already brimming with over $140,000 in parts and countless man-hours well ahead of its completion date.

Since merely bolting a 6.2-liter LS3 crate engine into the car and calling it a day isn’t very SEMA-like, Tim and Pete decided to crack open the fire-breathing V8 and reload it with some heavy ammunition. The engine received reinforcement from high-performance forged internals, along with a series of cooling, ignition, intake, and exhaust additions, as well as a ProCharger D1-X blower running 11-pounds of pressure. Setting this build further apart from the SEMA pack that year were upgrades like a one-off 3-inch exhaust, TruCarbon carbon-fiber valve covers, and a Bluetooth-controlled Restomod Air Bantam II Ultra Compact HVAC system.

It also featured a B&M 4L80E transmission that had been outfitted with a 2,500-stall torque converter from Hughes Performance, along with a 9-inch Ford housing, 3.70:1 gears, and a limited-slip. Underneath, you can find a Dynacorn body, a piece that the Quintin Brothers were more than happy to have, as it made the build’s modern upgrades painless and plentiful. From little stuff, like custom relocated coil packs and an electronic E-brake, to major mods like the car’s custom AutoRad radiator support and modern adjustable suspension, this Dynacorn body was the backbone behind it all.

Taking full advantage of this opportunity, the Quintin Brothers set to stuffing Baer Brakes six-pot calipers and 14-inch rotors, Wilwood spindles, and double-adjustable Afco Racing shocks and springs underneath. These were followed shortly thereafter by Forgeline DE3C wheels, which came finished in a one-off “Transparent Red” color along with custom “QB” center caps. These staggered alloys measure 19×9.5-inches up front, and 20×12-inch in the rear, setting a fiery contrast to the car’s rich “World Rally Blue” paint job.

However, something that seems to have never been discussed in much detail, was the insane amount of carbon fiber installed on this monster. Muscle car specialist, Anvil Auto, apparently provided a deluge of carbon fiber parts for the Quintin Bothers’ Chevy Camaro. Some of these high dollar woven pieces of artistry include the car’s cowl hood/vent screen, cowl panel, front spoiler, inner fender braces, inner fenders, front valance, side mirrors, racepak cluster, and rear spoiler.

Cabin-wise, this Camaro packs TMI Products Sport XR low back bucket seats with black suede and red stitching, matched by a one-piece suede headliner, suede sun visors, trunk kit, and rear seat upholstery with foam to match the front, all courtesy of TMI Products. Other kick-ass interior augmentations include a sixth-gen ZL1 Camaro center console, that the Quintin Brothers somehow managed to shoehorn into the classic Camaro. This is accompanied by a Racepak IQ3 Street Dash, JL Audio components, a Billet Specialties formula steering wheel, an ididit tilt steering column, and a one-off dash mat to match the rest of the interior. And that’s just a portion of the cabin mods!

All told, this custom ’68 Camaro took seven months to complete once a design was chosen, and Tim and Pete admit that while it was definitely a massive undertaking, they remain eternally grateful to their first SEMA build. From ordering the body and building the engine to supercharged extremes, to adding custom Quintin Brothers badges and modifying the body with carbon fiber, this ’68 Chevy Camaro was both a springboard and a test subject for the brothers and their shop.

So with the keys to this car ready to be handed over to their new owner on the other side of the planet, one wonders if the Quintin Brothers are experiencing any form of separation anxiety. We think they’re doing just fine, as the following paragraph surely illustrates.

“We poured our blood, sweat, and tears into this car for six months, thrashing to make it to our first SEMA show… The SEMA show that changed our lives,” the Quintin Brothers announced via social media a few months back. “Now this car is onto its new owner in PA, and under his ownership, the car has gotten even more attention. Well, it’s now time to move on again. The car is headed to Saudi Arabia for the Riyadh Auto Show and then to get Auctioned off right there after the show! Lets show them what some American Muscle looks like. Can’t wait to see this beast hanging in Saudi along with some other awesome cars from top builders in the states!”
