Is there anything cooler than a classic Chevy truck? How about one slammed to the ground on big steelies from Mobsteel, and a paint job done so well, you can spot your own reflection nearly a mile away? Like a fine cigar, Doug Waldrup’s 1970 Chevrolet C10 is hitting all those notes — and more. We spotted this gem at one of last year’s annual Goodguys car shows (this one took place in Nashville, Tennessee, though Doug and his family reside in Bartlett, a suburb of Memphis).
You’ve probably guessed why we’ve appropriately dubbed his C10 “The Memphis Street Sweeper.” Cool nicknames aside, Doug’s C10 features your standard gear that every C10 should have at a bare minimum — a 350ci small-block V-8 under its hood and a Turbo 400 transmission to move that sucker out.
It’s hard to pinpoint Doug’s C10 as a certain style of build — is it a classic? A muscle truck? Perhaps a ‘rod? Doug says, it’s all that and more. “I built my C10 as a cruiser to take to shows, drive around town, and just downright have fun. I think it checks all of those boxes.” We’d have to agree Doug, we think it does too.
