We found a true hardcore Chevy fanatic that claims to be “a regular guy with gasoline in his veins.” Meet Dave Lee from the great white North in British Columbia, Canada.
True to form, Dave says that he has “some disposable income,” so what does he do with it? “I dispose of it on a couple of BB Chevy’s,” he says.
One of the big block Chevy’s that Dave invests his disposable income into is a vintage muscle car, a 1969 Camaro SS, which he claims is his daily driver. According to Dave, the Camaro is 100% restored and was a trailer queen when he bought it. The car came with a 454 BBC with a 4 speed tranny and a 10 bolt rear end.
Not satisfied with a trailer queen, Dave went to work putting in “daily driver” equipment. The ’69 got a 540 Merlin Big Block with 250 Nitrous shot, a 5 speed Tremec TKO 600 tranny and a Moser 12 bolt rear end.
Dave’s 1969 Camaro SS upgrades:
- 540 CID Chevy big block
- 250hp NOS
- 930hp total (adjustable to 1,100hp max)
- 3″ custom polished stainless steel exhaust
- Oversized fuel lines
- McLeod Twin disk clutch rated for 1,200hp
- Scatter shield
- 5 Speed Tremec TKO 600
- Over-sized drive shaft
- Moser 12 bolt rear end
- Sub-frame connectors
- Killer stereo
According to Dave, the former trailer queen “gets dirty regularly. I drive it 30 miles round trip to and from work daily, year round. I use a 10lb bottle of NOS every week, sometimes more.” He is pretty proud of his 900+ horsepower “daily driver” and routinely posts videos on YouTube. We happened to find one of Dave’s videos where he took the Camaro from zero mph to an estimated 175 mph on a straight stretch of road. The camera stays on the speedo the entire time but you can tell by the other video’s on Dave’s YouTube channel that this car is the real deal. We look forward to seeing more video’s from this hardcore Chevy enthusiast.
